First off, let me say that I already own a JBL Flip 4 and a MotoMods JBL speaker for my phone, so much of the review will compare the 3 units, since I think it gives a good comparison to go by. First, the speaker came with a microUSB charge cable, but I plugged it into my hub to charge while I tried it. It is very simple to connect. Turned on my bluetooth (Android/Moto Z Play) and immediately paired. I played it through iHeart Radio, and was actually pleasantly surprised at how good it sounded, and I used iHeart Radio because the audio quality is better than other streaming services. I'll be honest- I didn't expect too much, as most inexpensive bluetooth speakers sound rather tinny, and have absolutely NO low end sound. Now, compared to the Flip 4, the HydroBeat isn't in that league, the Flip has much more low end, and a fuller sound, but also costs 3x plus/more to purchase, and the Flip 4 is a lot bulkier to carry around. The best way to describe sound quality is that it sounds much better than my phone, but not as good as my Flip 4, but quite near my MotoMods JBL speaker, maybe a little behind the MotoMods, but comparable. However, if you listen to talk radio or podcasts, you might actually prefer this little dude to the Flip 4, and if you need waterproof, it's way better than the MotoMods JBL. I really thought that the "words" and lyrics tracks were clearer on this than on my Flip 4. Since the Flip has more low end, it tends to "muddy" up the lyrics a little bit. Kind of a trade-off, not as much low end, but clear words. Listening to music on the deck, it sounds good. Not perfect, not as good overall as my Flip 4, but it was more than adequate for me. Some of the tracks I listened to with both speakers were: Ready To Go; Republica Only Happy When it Rains; Garbage Team; Iggy Azalea Battleflag; Lo Fidelity All-Stars Razor Sharp VIP; Pegboard Nerds & Tristam Old 45's; Chromeo 30's-N-Lows; Bass Patrol South of Saskatoon; Sonny James Nix Hex; 311 Play; David Banner Zombie; Bad Wolves Sham Pain; Five Finger Death Punch Behind Blue Eyes; Limp Bizkit The radio was actually an unexpected bonus- now, some people would think it's pointless, but maybe not- I do listen to sports and talk radio. The apps for this are spotty at best, and if I either can't get the apps to work, or don't want to carry my phone with me when fishing, I can just use the tuner on the speaker. I WILL use this feature, and the Flip doesn't have it, so that's a nod to the HydroBeats. Love that feature, actually. Call me old-school. The lights are cool, not only do they have specific colors for Power, connecting, disconnected (along with audible words) but they scroll through shades and colors when playing. If you have ambient lighting in your car, the same colors are scrolled through on the Illumination. Pretty cool. I did get a good chance to try the waterproof feature, as I had some fun with my dog in her pool, and it performed perfectly. The only issue is that if it gets splashed onto, and water gets inside the speaker grille, you'll have to shake it out or the sound is muffled (see video). Not really an issue, but just something to know- but it floats, and if I dropped my Flip 4 into the pool, I'd have to go get it. :) Overall, I do like this speaker, I'd definitely buy another one if this one disappears due to zombie outbreak, or if my dog chews it up, and it's definitely worth the price. Call me kind of surprised. I'll give it 5 stars simply on value- does it get 5 stars because it sounds as good as a JBL Flip? No. I give it 4 stars for sound. But I'm giving it 5 stars because for the money spent, you get a nice, compact, useful unit that sounds decently good, WITH a radio, and waterproof. I think on those merits it deserves all 5. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my unbiased review

I have used this speaker for a couple of years now. I liked the first one I bought so much I went back and bought a second one. The suction cup works great. You just want to make sure that the surface and the cup itself are very clean before you stick it on. If you do that, it will stay on. For this type of speaker, I think the sound quality is pretty good. I basically just use it while I’m in the shower, and it works great for that. I have to, because i’d like to have a back up. I keep them both on the wall in the shower, and if the battery starts to die while I’m still showering, I simply turn it off, and turn on the other speaker, which is already attached via Bluetooth to the device I am using. Seamless transition, and I’m never without my music. This is it because the battery doesn’t last long enough. Actually, the battery lasts so long that I’m really not sure how long to tell you. I use it during luxurious showers and I switch to the other speaker maybe once a month? I don’t use the radio, so I can’t give feedback on that. I mostly use mine as a Bluetooth speaker for my echo device. You cannot communicate directly with your echo device through the speaker, however, if you are playing a Music list, for example, use the skip forward and skip back buttons, the pause button, etc., to control your music even if you are out of shouting distance of your device. I also love the lights on the speaker! I turn all the lights in the bathroom off, and use only these lights while I’m in the shower. As I said, luxurious shower
