The Delta H2OKinetic combination is a fantastic midrange choice. It’s also our go-to “all-in-one” combination. Instead of two separate fixtures, these versions have two interrelated showerheads. When you’re not using it, the hand unit can be placed inside the fixed unit!

For the price, the Delta provides a lot of flexibility. We like the variety of available finish choices. It has a metal nozzle and a distinct look that complements a variety of styles.

Pros Cons
  • Installing it is easy.
  • There are five shades to choose from.
  • Guaranteed for life.
  • Coverage is reduced.

Design:

This model employs Delta’s H2OKinetic technology, which we’ve enjoyed for years on their low-flow models. Rather than scattering water droplets into a fine mist, this design uses special splash channels to create big fat drops (as so many others do).

The result is a fantastic feeling that gives the impression that more water is present than there is. It doesn’t sound like it’s made of needles at all! It also helps to retain heat by preventing heat from dissipating into mist. It is an excellent option for those who prefer large drops and a more powerful shower experience.

There are a few various flow pattern choices as well. You can choose between a full spray or a targeted massage mode. There are also variations: a full spray with relaxation or a slowed-down massage mode with large drops.

To save water, you can also briefly stop the flow! Although this is shown as a spray setting instead of a separate trickle valve, it is still a helpful feature. By simply turning stuff off as you lather/soap up, you can save a lot of water.

Functions:

With lightweight spray nozzles that remove deposits, the Delta cleans up quickly. They’re pretty standard, and we haven’t had any issues with them. It’s also easy to set up. It connects directly to your overhead shower hose.

The Delta has a fantastic look about it. It has a funky look that reminds us of older telephones. It’s not quite retro, but it’s also not a sleek, polished modernist piece. It continues to be very flexible because it isn’t tied to any particular aesthetic or time.

Extra

When you’re not using the hand unit, it’s magnetically docked into the overhead fixture. Unlike a lot of less expensive magnetic docking devices, this one works. It’s still flourishing despite the enormous droplets. In all modes, this combination meets the EPA’s 2.5 GPM flow rate specifications.

It’s available in five different finishes. As a result, finding one that suits your decor is easy. They’re all of the same build quality: mainly plastic, but more complicated than many at this price point. The hose and the set head are both metals in any situation.

They call the finish here stainless steel but it can pass for brushed nickel - I know because it matches the other hardware in my bathroom which is brushed nickel. One is supposed to be 'cooler' and the other 'warmer' but your mileage may vary. As for the focus on the product itself- how does it shower? very well actually. I have always been into the water saving shower heads to save money and to preserve pressure.Since we had low pressure in our hot water lines (buildup over 50 years) I was sensitive to how shower heads react to this and was the reason I always preferred the low gpm showerheads. Traditionally they were less sensitive to pressure since they didn't flow much by design. I never remove the flow restrictor if there is one because I feel that defeats the purpose. The real annual cost difference (read consumption) between 1.5gpm and 2.5 ended up being too close to call due to variances in usage and no longer became a primary concern. With this showerhead I don't have to worry about that anymore. Going from a top end low-flow to this was like going from an amazing garden hose to fire hose. Previously I tried the american standard flowise, and the waterpik ecoflow, (both excellent) and while those were 1.5gpm and this is 2.5 gpm it was not a given that the gpm would determine how well it showered. I have a hansgrohe raindance at 2.5 in another bathroom without pressure issues, and since that is a rainshower the water feels 'heavier' as it falls but still doesn't come out with 'pressure'. It's a preference issue. Some like to stand under falling water, others like to stand in a spray. This one definitely sprays. The waterpik was quieter (the hansgrohe raindance the quietest) but this has huge coverage which none of the others came close to. There are 3 main settings, the outer ring only - which has a speakman cone style of coverage in wide form. Then the wand only, and of course the setting for both. I prefer outer the cone only, and for kids use the wand only - but the wand itself has 2 different settings as well. Narrow cone (mini version of the main cone) and center blast. The main selector for switching between wand and outer cone is worth mentioning as it is a nice piece with a satisfying click that feels quality. The metal also feels like quality, as does the hose. The wand also has a nice button to change modes like the hansgrohe so going back to a shower that requires turning the face itself seems silly now. What I find interesting is that the showerhead doesn't send the spray as a cylinder (think hansgrohe clubmaster) but as a large cone - your entire body feels the pressure from the showerhead. I don't use the wand-only feature because the streams are narrower that way. (good for a power rinse though) Nor the mix of wand and outer cone because it halves the pressure on each and that defeats the purpose. I prefer the outer cone only because it is a good mix of pressure and coverage. The downside is you can't leave the shower door open when waiting the 20 seconds for the water to heat up because it will spray the bathroom. if you're used to good pressure showers then you can buy this for aesthetics or function. But if you're used to poor pressure showers its amazing that you can get this amount of 'push' on your body with no changes in plumbing - just the fixture.

Bravo! Product is the Real Deal!

I was rather skeptical of this product, costing $171 with tax. After all, one can buy a perfectly adequate shower head for about $25. Could it really reinvent the process of taking a shower? Would I need to pull out the water restrictor? Could I cleanly install it without problems? On first try there was some leakage of water both at the connecting wand and near the attachment point to the wall, even using teflon tape (not included). I retried, using both more twisting force and about 6 roll-arounds of the tape. Problem solved. Installation was easy. The head of the unit can tilt around by about 15 degrees like any other shower head but it require some force. Don't be shy about grabbing and rotating to the proper angle. The shower experience is absolutely magnificent! When you observe the video of the product on youtube you get a feeling of the young model being inundated by water. That's exactly how it feels. A cone of water comfortably soaks you, like being drenched in a rainstorm. Totally removes all soap in a few seconds so efficiently there is little need for the wand. I hate the feeling of sharp needles. This is the opposite of that. Best with both the wand and outer head going at the same time. The hand held wand removes and clicks back firmly and securely into place with the help of a little magnet. Nice. Also like how easy it is to pause the water flow on both head and wand units when soaping up. The pressure I obtained with the water restrictor in place was exactly like the video. More than sufficient. We are on ground level and have excellent water pressure. Without the restrictor water would pool up over the drain. If however you need to remove the restrictor just look into the piece that screws on to the wall and you will see rubber washer with a metal screen filter. Carefully remove it by prying it out but be careful not to damage it. Immediately behind the washer/filter is a lavender colored flow restrictor. Since it is only held in by friction you can push it out from behind. Removing the flow restrictor will void your lifetime warrenty so keep this part in case you need to return your unit. The procedure is easily reversible. Is it worth the money? Based on the materials, no. Based on the technology and the overall experience I would say absolutely yes. I have the shiny chrome model and it looks really impressive in our glass shower stall, another plus. We live in South Florida so taking a second mandatory afternoon shower used to be drag. Now, I look forward to diving under this delightful contraption for a soothing refreshment. Enjoy!
